We carried out this short campaign as a test for an established ecommerce store in 2010. Statistics were gathered before the campaign in July 2010 and after the campaign in September 2010.
The target product was selected on the basis of keyword research we carried out.
A short article marketing campaign was generated using focused anchor text links to improve search engine ranking performance for the keyword phrase and related terms.
The campaign resulted in the target web page moving from the 30th Page of Google results to the 4th page of Google results within a few weeks.
The 560% increase in traffic to the page occurred even though the effect of the campaign was not measured for long enough to place the target page in the first page Google rankings. The site attracted a massive increase in pre-qualified leads as a result of long tail searches being used.
The impact of this type of campaign will increase over time as Google trusts the new links more. The impact will become almost permanent.
The equivalent annualised value of this campaign if this traffic were to be bought with Google Adwords is £3,415.32.
